The aim of this work was to compare the effects of AT, RT, and the full combination (AT/RT) on central ectopic fat, liver enzymes, and fasting insulin resistance [homeostatic model assessment (HOMA)]
A novel multi-tissue RNA diagnostic of healthy ageing relates to cognitive health status.

View SamplesThe aim of this work was to produce a reproducible molecular signature of human muscle responses to resistance training and examine how such a profile relates to new and established exercise adaptation gene networks.

View SamplesFITFATTWIN study identified from the FinnTwin16 Cohort, which is a population based, longitudinal study of Finnish twins born between October 1974 and December 1979. The participants had no chronic disease affecting the ability to exercise, no acute disease, and no drug or alcohol abuse.

View SamplesThe overall objective of the heritage project is to study the role of the genotype in cardiovascular, metabolic and hormonal responses to aerobic exercise training and the contribution of regular exercise to changes in several cardiovascular disease and diabetes risk factors.

View SamplesMuscle biopsy samples from healthy male subjects at the baseline belonging to either <29y or >59y age range. These samples were used to design a prototype of multi-tissue molecular diagnostic of healthy physiological age.

View SamplesAffymetrix Chicken Gene 1.0 ST Array (ChiGene-1_1-st) profiles were generated from growth plate cartilage derived from the distal femur and proximal tibia of embryonic chickens at three developmental stages (day 12, 13 and 15) corresponding to stages prior to and immediately after the acqusition of mechano-responsive cartilage growth in the femur but not tibia (which does not respond to mechanical stimuli until later stages). Additionally, array profiles were generated from growth plate cartilage from the distal femur and proximal tibia of E15 chicks which were pharmacologically immobilized by decamethonium bromide treatment, which reduces longitudinal growth of the femur only at this stage.
